Spreading The Gospel Through Correspondence Courses
Praise for those who have accepted Christ while doing a Set Free Bible Study:
Dawn, doing Journey through the Bible and Cole, doing Greatest Man Alive
Cameron, doing Greatest Man Alive.” I believe that God led me to jail to save my life and teach me a lesson”
Please pray for all the inmates who have come to a deeper understanding and relationship with Jesus – Especially those who asked for prayer
A letter from Terry:
“Thank you for enrolling me. I found a small book “Lessons for Christian Living” on top of a trash can lid, blocking me from emptying my trash, so I picked up the book. I had just become unconfessed and unrepented. So, I’m looking at this book, looking around, wondering who left this? I thumbed through it, and it was not written in and no suggestion who it belonged to, so I kept it. I learned that it is a correspondence Bible study course. A card to enroll was inside. I sent it in and within 10 days I received my first book with 12 lessons. I am really enjoying it!
I am learning about the Bible with such ease and a lot of fascination, I was born and raised in a Christian home, but when I became incarcerated almost 30 years ago, I switched to Islam. But on August 13, 2023, after a series of events that left me conflicted, I kneeled to pray and asked God for a definite sign that I must be reborn as a Christian and flee forever from Islam.
I couldn’t believe the things that started to happen to me, showing me the true religion, even finding the Bible study book on a trash can! I just wanted to Thank You. While I await my next lessons, I will study the Bible verses provided in the first 12 lessons to stay busy.”
RESPONSES FROM INMATES STUDYING THE SET FREE COURSES
Manuel: Book of Matthew
Q: Jesus challenged those who wanted to follow Him to count the cost of discipleship. What is the cost in your life?
A: “First off, I must deny self - no exceptions, no more compromise. Second, I must then prioritize and give the best of my life to Jesus.”
Q: What have you learned about the Kingdom of God in this lesson?
A:” I love the simple yet so overlooked definition the book gives concerning the Kingdom of God. It is the sphere where God’s rule is acknowledged. For me this is the Question: Does my life reflect that I’m a kingdom person? Do I acknowledge God’s rule in my life?
I am locked in and determined to finish the course and see Jesus face to face on that Wonderful Day.”
Director’s Comments
Greetings and God’s Blessings to all. We are entering the fall and from there, we are into a season of holiday celebrations, family gatherings and, for some, a season of loneliness, loss, regrets and sadness. This can be particularly true of our at-risk populations, separated from their families and loved ones through incarceration. May we pray that the peace and grace of our Lord and Savior is impressed on these people through the efforts of this ministry and and may it be magnified by our supporters and donors.
There is another sentiment I would like to convey. May we always be mindful of those who are on the other side of our equation; those who risk their lives in the pursuit of peace and safety in our communities. Although our ministry extends to the incarcerated, our prayers should extend to those men and women who protect us all. I am reminded of this as Colorado mourns the death of Parole Officer Guerin Sandoval, struck down in the line of duty on September 28th. I did not know this officer, but my heart breaks for her family. Even if the accused offender may one day become a brother through the unfathomable debts of God’s Grace; and that we can earnestly pray for; may we never forget the sacrifice of Officer Sandoval and those like her.
Lastly, we are still in the process of searching for a replacement Director of Set Free Prison Ministries. Please pray that God will raise up one to take over the ministry in December.
God’s Blessing, Grace and Mercy to all
